Help build the future of ICT: NEW GEN ICT

You thought: challenger? What does that mean? Is that something for me? Curious as you are, you read on and that (besides passion for ICT, duh) is exactly the characteristic that drives our students and colleagues. And when you think of working in education, do you immediately think of packed lecture halls or a classroom with a chalkboard and your spirits sink in? CTRL+A+DEL; because that is exactly NOT what working at Fontys means!

  • There is a class, but you are in the middle of it;
  • There is a classroom, only without walls and with labs and the latest tech & gadgets;
  • There are classes, but in them you listen to or spar with your students (whom you get to nicely challenge with fat and innovative projects);
  • You work with students, challenging, stimulating and inspiring them. As a challenger, you are also the expert who manages, coaches, connects and researches.

 

Cyber Security has become indispensable in today's IT world. In all IT areas, it is important to consider security aspects. This involves protecting computing environments from security threats such as cybercriminals, hackers, malware, but also, for example, countering or investigating fraud. Technical aspects play an important role, but non-technical aspects such as threat and risk analysis, compliance with relevant legislation, and attention to user awareness must also be taken into account.

 

As a teacher and coach, you guide students in their development, towards positions such as ethical hacker and pen-tester, security analyst and security engineer. You will help them strengthen their security skills, but also help them become better professionals and researchers. You will work with them as a teacher/coach, supervising personal and group projects, also giving workshops and practical instruction, and holding regular personal progress meetings with your students.

 

Shaping the ICT and ICT workers of tomorrow together. NEW GEN ICT is what we call it. In short, you will make the difference in a job in which your knowledge and talent have maximum scope and where you also continue to learn. Making an impact on society, your students and yourself. Is this you?

As a person:

  • You are an enthusiastic ICT practitioner and apart from being good at, and enthusiastic about your profession, you are open-minded and interested in what concerns the students;
  • You communicate clearly in both Dutch and English (you also teach in English);
  • You are inquisitive. That's why at Fontys ICT you'll find the job and colleagues that reward that. Actively participate in meaningful research and education projects, follow training courses, visit events, think up innovative solutions and keep developing. As an ICT professional, as a human being and as a shaper of NEW GEN ICT.

 

In terms of education and background:

  • You have WO working and thinking level, at least a college degree and affinity with higher vocational education;
  • You have several years of recent experience with technical Cyber Security aspects within the ICT work field, and are also familiar with non-technical aspects;
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages;
  • No teaching experience? No problem! We will help you get the qualifications you need quickly.

Marco: We don’t just stand in front of the class, we teach ICT talents to stand up, take ownership and debate their ideas. You have to be creative because you want your students to be creative. If possible; even more creative than you. In other types of education, as a student, you learn to perform tricks. We let students explain why they do what they do and help them explore what they need to do to get results. Here, they mostly work to improve themselves.
